Even with even-pressure jaws, over-tightening past what the joint needs can still squeeze glue-starve the joint (too little glue left in the joint after excess is forced out). And clamping only at the ends of a long panel — without a caul or a middle clamp — can still let the center bow away from the clamps even though the jaws themselves stay parallel.
Bottom line
Bessey’s nominal force rating (1,700 lb) is higher on paper than Jorgensen’s (1,500 lb), but Jorgensen’s built-in stand is a real usability feature Bessey’s listing doesn’t mention having.
