Since the fixture is sold separately from the pipe, buy pipe a few inches longer than your actual clamping span — you lose some usable length to the fixture bodies themselves at each end. Threading only needs to happen on one end (where the fixed jaw’s stop screws on); the sliding jaw end just needs a clean-cut, deburred pipe end.
